Ricky the Rabbit and the Glowing Danger: A Story About Following the Rules
Once upon a time, in a burrow bustling with busy bunnies, lived a little rabbit named Ricky. Ricky wasn’t like the other bunnies. He didn’t like nibbling on crunchy carrots or burrowing deep underground. Ricky craved adventure! He loved hopping around the field and discovering new things!
One sunny morning, while Mama and Papa Rabbit were gathering juicy clover, Ricky hopped away to the neighboring field, ignoring Mama Rabbit’s rule to stay close. As he was exploring, he noticed a new burrow. It wasn’t a regular burrow.
It was darker and mysterious, unlike the cozy tunnels Ricky knew. It seemed like there was a special kind of glow coming from inside. Curiosity buzzed inside him like a hive of restless bees.
‘‘Just a peek!’’ he whispered to himself.
Once again, ignoring Mama Rabbit’s warnings about not going to dark places, Ricky wiggled his nose into the hole. It was dark and dusty, but there was indeed a faint glow deeper inside. Driven by his thirst for adventure, Ricky hopped into the unknown. The tunnel twisted and turned, the glowing light growing brighter. Suddenly, Ricky emerged into a dazzling cavern filled with shimmering crystals of every color! He bounced
around, mesmerized by their beauty.
Then, he heard a rustling sound. A giant, furry creature with beady eyes and razor-sharp claws emerged from the shadows. Ricky froze. It was a grumpy old badger, the guardian of the crystal caves!
...
Ricky the rabbit got into trouble because he didn’t follow Mama Rabbit’s rule. Can you think of a time you or your friends didn’t listen to a rule
set by your parent or teacher? What happened? Did you learn something from that experience? (This question helps readers connect with a personal experience of disobeying a rule and the consequences that followed.)
