The Feather Family’s Big Move: A Story About Change and Moving Houses

Once upon a time, in a cozy little nest high up in the tallest tree in the forest lived a happy and colorful family of birds known as the Feather family. There was Mama Feather, Papa Feather, and their three cheerful chicks: Sunny, Chirp, and Fluffy. Their nest was nestled among the leaves and branches, offering a beautiful view of the sparkling river and colorful flowers below. Every morning, the Feather family would chirp a happy song, welcoming the new day. Sunny, the oldest chick with pink feathers, loved to explore. Chirp, the green middle chick, enjoyed spending time with his friends and singing with Mama Feather. Fluffy, the youngest one with unique purple feathers, liked to cuddle up and listen to stories that Papa Feather told.

One sunny afternoon, as Mama and Papa Feather were discussing their plans, they called their chicks together. ‘‘We have some news,’’ Mama Feather said gently.
Sunny, Chirp, and Fluffy looked up with wide eyes, curious about what their parents were going to say. ‘‘We’re going to move to a new nest,’’ Papa Feather announced.

The chicks were stunned. They loved their nest and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Sunny fluttered her wings in surprise, Chirp’s song turned into a questioning chirp, and Fluffy snuggled closer to Papa Feather.
‘‘Why do we have to move?’’ Sunny asked, her eyes filling with concern.
‘‘Our tree is getting very old, and our nest is too small for all of us,’’ Papa Feather explained. ‘‘This tree is wonderful, and it gave us a lot of amazing memories, but it’s not as safe as it used to be. We need to find a stronger, safer tree where we can build an even bigger nest for our growing family. Maybe we’ll choose that big oak tree next to the sunflower patch; that way, we’ll always have plenty of food nearby, so we won’t have to fly far anymore to find delicious seeds and worms! It’s a better decision for our family, my little ones.’’
“But what about all our friends?’’ Chirp asked, his eyes filled with worry.
Mama Feather smiled warmly. ‘‘We can still visit our friends here. And we’ll make new friends in our new home, too.’’
Fluffy tugged at Papa Feather’s wing. ‘‘Will the new nest be as cozy as this one?’’
Papa Feather nodded. ‘‘We’ll make sure it is. And you can help us build it, so it feels just like home.’’
The chicks felt a little better knowing they could be a part of creating their new home.  But the idea of moving still made them feel nervous.
They had so many memories in their current nest.
